Customer Success Manager
The interview process was a wonderful experience that made me want to work at Gainsight even more. Every interaction I had with employees, from recruiters to the CS team, showed me a glimpse of the amazing humans that work in the company. They were always super transparent and, although this time around it didn't pan out, I would apply again in the future.
- How would you prioritize your customer base?
Customer Success Manager
So first I had an HR Recruiter call that was about 30 minutes to go over my background and resume. Then I had a zoom interview with the Hiring Manager, that was about 30-45 minutes long. She asked some behavioral questions but she was really nice and made it super conversational. After that, I had to take a standardized test.
- Can you tell me about your background and walk me through your resume?
- Tell me about your experience in customer success.
- How would you handle a situation where a client is unhappy with the product?
Customer Success Manager
I applied online and a few days later a recruiter reached out. The recruiter was super open and told me that the company culture has changed a lot in the 3 years they've been there, so much so that they left the company a week after talking to me. Then I had two more interviews, each about 45 minutes long. After those, I was asked to spend another 2-3 hours preparing for a presentation, but only AFTER I had already taken my assessment test. I get needing an assessment for roles like engineer or developer, but there isn't one for customer success. This test is really just about your personality, how you handle things, and your behaviors to see if you'll be a 'problem' or if you'll fit the company values. I told the team I wasn't interested in continuing because Gainsight didn't feel like the right fit for me. I didn't hear back from anyone after I sent that email - no follow-up about my decision, no questions about why I wasn't feeling positive about moving forward or what my reservations were, nothing. Well, actually, it did confirm it was exactly the type of company and culture I don't want to be a part of.
- How do you manage in high-stress, fast-paced settings, and how do you deal with demanding customers or clients?
- What technical skills do you possess that would contribute to your success in this position?
- What technical proficiency do you have that would make you successful in this role?
