Technical Presentation

I did a recorded video interview and then an in-person interview in Raleigh. It was kind of an unprofessional experience though. The interviewers were really late, over thirty minutes, and if I hadn't already traveled to Raleigh I would have left. They seemed really focused on whether I knew their specific way of doing things. The follow-up email saying I didn't get the job had the wrong title and I had to chase them to confirm. The wording was also odd, instead of saying they were moving on with others, they said they were changing what they were looking for. My feedback would be to be more direct and respect people's time. It really doesn't make a good first impression.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

It was a phone screen where they asked a bunch of personality questions. Then there was an in-person writing test that was 2.5 hours. For the first 30 minutes, you had to edit a paper using an AP stylebook and answer 10-15 questions where you circle the correct word choice in a sentence. Then, for 2 hours, you had to do a news release, tweet/facebook post, client service, launch plan, etc. It's 5 parts and you get a prompt about a company that sells a household product. Brush up on your AP stylebook, this test is not easy and they want to see 85-100% accuracy.

Behavioral

I applied for a couple of positions at the company, and my qualifications seemed like a really good fit for both. I was surprised I didn't even get a recruiter call. When I didn't hear back and saw the job posting was still up MONTHS later, I tried to reach out on LinkedIn to follow up in a casual way. I never got a response. A simple 'thanks, we got your resume but are looking at other candidates' would have been fine, but I got NOTHING. It made me really question what the company and its employees were up to, and their lack of manners and professionalism. I'd be really careful about them.

I applied to G&S after seeing the posting on LinkedIn. HR reached out and we exchanged some emails. Then, I had a call with HR on Tuesday. Two days later, on Thursday, I was invited for an interview, and by Friday I had a job offer. The whole process was pretty standard and moved quickly, which was nice. It felt like they were mostly trying to see if I'd be a good fit for the team culture, which I also liked. Overall, I thought G&S's hiring process was great.
