Account Executive
I've worked for 2 well-known NY Tech companies over the past 5-6 years. I decided to look for a new role that fit my future professional goals better. Many companies are looking for experienced AEs, but they aren't always clear about career progression, etc. My experience with Fundera was different. I interviewed with 15 companies total. I quickly realized many companies feel like a revolving door. They didn't seem to care about getting to know me (or even reading my resume), the questions weren't thoughtful, and I waited in rooms for over 35 minutes. Most companies made me feel like just a number, but not Fundera. It was surprisingly refreshing. I knew who I was meeting and why. The questions weren't just about the role but also about my professional goals. They are very open and value people who take ownership and can manage upwards. I also felt company culture was really important. Many questions were about my personality. Overall, it was a smooth interview process. I met with 6-8 people. The company is in a strong position culturally and financially. The executive team is very intelligent and seemed passionate about their work.

Account Executive
First, I had a 30-minute phone screen. Then I came in for a 2.5-hour casual chat with a few people in a conference room. After sending thank you notes, I was told they wanted me to meet the founder. I waited a week to schedule this, then called them since I hadn't heard back. Once they knew it was me, they freaked out, quickly ended the call, and sent a one-sentence email saying the position was no longer open. It was super rude since I'd already spent half an afternoon there with the expectation of coming back for a follow-up to discuss my presentation. I asked what happened during that week but never got a reply.
- What prompted your departure from your previous employer?
Account Executive
I applied through my college's career site and got an invite for a recruiter call. The recruiter seemed really eager to get me in person, and while friendly, they didn't ask super detailed questions, perhaps a bit inexperienced. The onsite involved interviews with four different managers. The office itself is really cool with a great startup vibe, and most people seemed friendly and happy. Three of the managers were nice and seemed interested in my background, but one was rude and rushed my interview. It felt like they weren't sure what they were looking for in sales, maybe even using the AE title to recruit more while not really wanting to hire someone entry-level like me. A few days later, the recruiter let me know they were going in a different direction. I asked for feedback to help with my post-grad job search, but they ghosted me, which left a bad impression.
- What makes you want to work in sales?
- Why are you interested in Fundera?
