Behavioral Coding

The interview process started with a 1-hour video call with the hiring manager and an engineer. We discussed my qualifications, their expectations, and other details about my candidacy. Then, I was given a take-home coding challenge. After I completed the coding assessment, they extended an offer. However, I declined because of a significant disagreement on compensation. We had talked about compensation in the initial interview, but the offer was 30k less than what was discussed. They couldn't meet my minimum salary requirement. If they had been upfront about the compensation range earlier, I wouldn't have invested time in their coding challenge and could have focused that effort on other companies.
