First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fulcrum Technologies.
HR Intern
I had an initial phone chat with the recruiter, who was really nice. They asked some basic questions about whether I met the requirements. Once they saw I lived too far away, they apologized and that was it.
- Did you finish your degree or are you still studying?
- Do you have any previous HR experience?
- How does your background connect with what we're looking for in this role?
Project Manager
First I talked to the recruiter on the phone. Then I had a telephonic interview with the hiring manager. After that, I had an in-person interview with the hiring manager and some of her team members. Then I interviewed with the executive team in person. Finally, I discussed the decision with the recruiter.
- The recruiter asked very detailed questions about project management and many aspects of the PM practice.
- The hiring manager wanted to know if my background and skillset fit the role, asking serious questions.
- During the in-person interview, the hiring manager and her team asked very detailed and challenging questions about various situations a PM might face to ensure I was the right fit.
Software Engineer
The interview process started with a 1-hour video call with the hiring manager and an engineer. We discussed my qualifications, their expectations, and other details about my candidacy. Then, I was given a take-home coding challenge. After I completed the coding assessment, they extended an offer. However, I declined because of a significant disagreement on compensation. We had talked about compensation in the initial interview, but the offer was 30k less than what was discussed. They couldn't meet my minimum salary requirement. If they had been upfront about the compensation range earlier, I wouldn't have invested time in their coding challenge and could have focused that effort on other companies.
- Build a webapp based on their criteria.
DevOps Engineer
I had a phone screen with HR, then a web meeting with a group of people, followed by a web meeting with the Hiring Manager. Finally, there was a written test where I had to answer a few questions and write a script based on some requirements.
- Can you explain the release process for a web application?
- Tell me about your knowledge of Jenkins.
- What are your Git skills?
