Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fujitsu.

The interview process involved several steps. First, we had a CV and Cover Letter review, followed by a video interview. Then came the Assessment Centre, which had multiple parts: 3.1 was about mentioning an inspirational figure and an interesting personal fact. 3.2 was a group exercise where we had to make an elephant from 2D shapes and then 'hack' a username and password, though we didn't get to the last part. 3.3 was a 3-minute presentation on relevant skills and unique contributions to Fujitsu. 3.4 was another group exercise about choosing attendees for a Fujitsu conference. After this, there was a lunch, after which unsuccessful candidates were dismissed, and the rest proceeded to Stage 2. Stage 2 consisted of a 30-45 minute interview with a senior team member.
- Can you share an inspirational figure and an interesting fact about yourself?
- In the first group exercise, how would you make an elephant using only 2D geometrical shapes?
- For the second part of the first group exercise, describe how you would 'hack' a user's username and password.

Applied online and then had a video interview and an online assessment. If that went well, I was invited to an assessment centre. The day was split into two parts. In the morning, there were two group tasks and a presentation. One task involved building a structure, and the other involved playing different roles and debating. The presentation was about what fascinates me about technology. If I passed those, I had a final interview with the hiring manager who asked a few direct questions. The hiring managers seemed really open and friendly, but it was a facade. They wanted to see who would be the loudest, most forward, direct, and generally the 'biggest and best'. I went in thinking I could be myself – open, honest, and respectful. Big mistake! I got a call a week later saying I was unsuccessful because the hiring manager felt my personality wasn't suitable and I should have 'gone all out'. This was despite them smiling, praising me, and saying I'd be an amazing addition and they 'needed more people like me' on the day. Other candidates heard the exact same thing! Bizarrely, not a single question was asked about my CV, education, or past experience. Honestly, I've never encountered such dishonesty, prejudice, and bias in an interview.
- What would you choose to start a new project if you had a budget?
- What about technology fascinates you?
- Can you describe a time when you took initiative?

First, you'll do an online situational assessment where you have to judge how effective an action is in a given scenario. After that, there's an online aptitude test covering verbal, numerical, and logical reasoning; each question has a 3-minute time limit. Then, you'll have a video interview where you must answer questions about past personal or work experiences within a minute, after a 30-second preparation time. If you pass this stage, you'll be invited to the company's assessment center.
- Describe a situation where you demonstrated integrity.
