I applied online, and then a recruiter contacted me to set up a screening interview. After that, I had a small two-person panel interview. It was mostly questions like 'what would you do?' and 'how do you handle difficult clients?' which weren't too difficult. I did ask them about the company culture, their confidence in the development team, and their accomplishments, but they didn't seem very enthusiastic about their work.

Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

So I talked to a few people from the team and then went through some informal interviews. After that, I had a formal interview with my direct supervisor. The whole thing seemed pretty organized. They asked questions that made sense and were about my experience with mobile products and how I can break down complicated problems into simpler, manageable solutions. I was a bit surprised they didn't ask much about my long-term goals or vision for Fueled.

Four phone call interview screens, and one in-person interview. The team is smart but young and doesn't have much experience outside this company. They don't really get standard Product Management Practices and use their own method. This is okay, but Product Managers should know this before going through four phone interviews and a 3-hour in-person interview. Fueled seems to be looking for Technical Product Managers or Product Strategists, not traditional Product Managers. They use intimidation tactics to test technical knowledge, which isn't great. They can come off as condescending. Given the egos, maybe they should be called Tech-Bro LLC. I work with mobile vendors often, but I won't be hiring them anytime soon.
