Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at FTI Consulting.
Summer Analyst
So I had a bunch of interviews, like multiple rounds, and it was a mix of behavioral and technical stuff. The final round was a SuperDay where I had 3 interviews back-to-back. These included behavioral, technical, and a case study. They also asked a market sizing question.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in FTI?
- Do you have experience with market sizing questions?
Analyst
We had 3 interviews. First was a call with a Senior Associate to discuss fit. They asked about why I want to join FTI, why I'm interested in this particular role, and what makes me a good candidate. We also went over my CV. The second interview was in-person with a Manager. This one focused on competencies, including how changes affect the three main financial statements, some brainteasers, and a bit more about fit. The third interview involved a case study where I had to create a 13-week cashflow, a P&L, and a Balance Sheet entirely from scratch.
- Can you explain the effect of a change on the three financial statements?
- Consider a classic scenario: Depreciation goes up. How does this impact the three financial statements?
Analyst
Had interviews with different people in the company, some junior folks too. They were kinda vague about the job details. Lots of standard consulting case questions. It finished with a big 2-hour finance/accounting computer test. This test had DCF and other financial modeling stuff, and also some basic economics questions.
- What is the total count of car tires in the USA right now?

(Interacting means changing the state of the door – opening if closed, closing if open.)”
