First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at FSA.
Paralegal
After applying, if you make it to the next step, they do a background check. Once that's cleared, you have to do an on-demand interview where you record yourself answering about 15 questions. Then, they'll set up an in-person interview. For me, it was a panel of 5 people: the recruiter, two people from FSA in the same role, and two people from the contracting agency (OUSA in my case).
- How do you handle people who frustrate you?
Paralegal
I applied online and was contacted by phone within about a week. They asked me some quick questions, and then told me an in-person interview would be scheduled about a week later. I had the in-person interview at the agency's headquarters, and it lasted for 3 hours before they offered me the job. If you're interviewing for a position with their DEA contract, be totally upfront from the very first contact. Anything regarding marijuana use is an automatic disqualifier for a security clearance, even if it was just occasional. You don't want to accept the offer and then have it taken back after you honestly answer questions about past drug use. I really wish they'd brought up the drug use topic from the start - it would have saved everyone a lot of time.
- What is your motivation for this position?
- Can you detail your job responsibilities?
- What feedback would you expect from your previous employer?
Paralegal
They have you do an online video interview, which is recorded and you get up to three tries per question. I don't think they really used this video though, as someone else interviewing in person mentioned getting the video task but not doing it. The in-person interview was okay, but the interviewers weren't from FSA directly, they were from the government office you'd be serving.
- Can you describe your previous job duties and how they qualify you for this role?
- How do you cope with stress?
- When faced with multiple assignments, how do you prioritize and ensure work gets done?
