Behavioral Technical Presentation

So after a phone screen and a personality test, I interviewed with the Manager and then the VP. Then I had a back-and-forth with a c-level exec, followed by a sales presentation with the Manager and VP. After all that, like 6 tasks in total, I just got a generic rejection with no feedback, which was pretty unprofessional given it took a month.

A headhunter first reached out, and I had to complete a coding test that involved a palindrome algorithm and unit tests. Then, I had a phone call with the hiring manager (who was referred to as Director) and their boss. The hiring manager asked mostly about my experience and interests, trying to gauge personality fit and tech comfort, but didn't ask anything explicitly technical. After that, I went in person to meet the hiring manager and two senior developers. This interview was similar, but included one technical question: whiteboard a way to join two tables to get all values from the first table, even if there's no match in the second. I said 'left outer join' and that was it for technical questions. Interestingly, the hiring manager quit two months later, and one of the senior devs quit two weeks before I was supposed to start.

So the first thing was a phone interview with the CRO, who is basically the VP of Sales there, and that was in Boston. It was about 30 minutes, pretty standard stuff like walk me through your resume. Then a few days later, I went to their HQ in Reston for an in-person chat with the sales manager, who I guess wasn't super experienced in interviewing sales folks. After that, I met with a Sr. sales exec, also in Reston. Turns out their top rep had only been there like 10 months, which maybe should have been a sign. The last interview was a phone call with the Director of Sales back in Boston, and it was pretty much the same deal, tell me about yourself and your background.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview has 5 parts. First, a recruiter call, then a peer review. The third interview is with the Sales Manager. I was told the fourth would be a presentation/demo. My interview stalled here. The manager went on vacation, and I was told it would be about 2 weeks for the next step. I followed up several times and was told to give the manager time to catch up. This was a waste of 5 weeks. I was then told they were moving on with another candidate. It's disappointing they didn't just tell me instead of leaving me hanging.
