Interview was generic. What you'd expect in most retail jobs. No previous ice cream serving experience was required for me and a few workers so don't be discouraged. just show you have great customer service

I applied and got a call from the hiring manager a couple of days later. A few days after that, I went in for the interview on a quiet Thursday evening. I waited about 20 minutes in an empty part of the restaurant, but I didn't mind too much because I really needed a job. The manager eventually came and apologized for the wait. She asked basic questions and mentioned they don't hire servers without experience, so she offered me a position as a hostess or fountain worker instead, which I accepted. The interview covered my availability and ability to work with others. It felt like a successful interview, and she said she'd call me back Monday or Tuesday about orientation. No call came by Tuesday, so I waited a couple more days and called the following Thursday. The manager wasn't in, and no one knew when she'd be back. I finally reached her the next morning. She told me the job was filled but that they might hire in the future.

I found the job on Craigslist and applied online Sunday night. I got a call Monday afternoon to schedule an interview for Tuesday afternoon. When I got there, I had to wait because the general manager was busy. He asked me how I was a lot before we started. The questions were pretty basic, mostly about my background and education. I told him I really enjoy being a server and that it's the right fit for me. I also mentioned I'm a freelance makeup artist, which might be why I didn't get an offer. He then said he couldn't tell if I was a good server just from the interview. Afterwards, he asked if I had any questions. I asked about the number of hours. He then talked for about 10 minutes about chicken sandwiches, winter, college students, how they train servers, and the number of servers they have there, without making eye contact, checking the time, and doodling on my application while I was speaking. It was really unprofessional.
