First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fresno Unified School District.
Substitute Teacher
The application itself was a mess, designed for all positions in the district instead of just substitute teachers, so many parts didn't even apply. It took a full month to get hired, which feels like a long time for this kind of job. The actual interview part was okay, but figuring out the schedule for it was a real pain.
- Can you tell me about the most challenging situation you've encountered and overcome in your life?
Teacher
Went to a job fair and scheduled an interview with the district. Spoke with an administrator who then passed me on for a second interview later. After the second interview, I was given my letter of intent.
- What are your strategies for handling challenging students?
Tutor
The hiring process wasn't difficult. I went to the school with the AVID program and spoke with the Program supervisor. We then scheduled an interview, assuming they were actively hiring.
