First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Freescale Semiconductor.
Applications Engineer
There was a telephonic round first to get a general understanding of the projects I've worked on and the technologies and tools I know. Then, they asked me to come to campus for face-to-face rounds. It was a full day interview, starting around 9 AM and ending close to 7 or 8 PM, with some breaks in between.
- Tell me about the problems you have faced and how you resolved them.
Applications Engineer
I had a few interviews with my potential coworkers and managers. It started with an HR chat where they asked standard personality questions. Then, managers and peers asked very technical questions, and I needed to provide a lot of practical examples. They mentioned a strong MCU background is needed, and software development experience would be a plus. Experience with automotive and industrial applications and systems is also very useful. Overall, the interviews were pretty friendly and pleasant, but the questions were tough and definitely required some prep.
- Can you tell me about your experience developing embedded ADAS systems?
Applications Engineer
I was called in for an interview. I spoke with the senior engineer/manager and a couple of existing applications engineers. The interview wasn't super formal, and they didn't ask me any technical questions, but I was asked to talk about my past projects and experience.
- Can you tell me how you experienced the most growth in your previous role?
