First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Freescale Semiconductor.
Senior Design Engineer
Freescale tends to hire experienced engineers from Bangalore who are open to relocating to the NCR Region. The interview process involves at least two in-person discussions. Initial screening is done by Level 1 managers, focusing on language proficiency and understanding of digital concepts. Candidates can expect questions on Digital Design topics like calculating setup and hold times, frequency calculations, and designing asynchronous FIFOs. Knowledge of System Verilog Testbench structure is also crucial for getting hired.
- Given the setup and hold times, what would be the maximum operating frequency for a digital circuit?
- Could you discuss questions concerning clock domain crossing?
Design Engineer
For design engineer they ask the digital electronics thoroughly. You can refer to previous year papers, as questions were repeated during my time. The interview will be cool and will mostly consists of questions from your resume and projects. But also be aware of the company's development in the field you are applying for. I wasn't.
- What are your thoughts on digital electronics?
- Can you tell me about your experience with your resume projects?
- What do you know about our company's recent developments in this field?
Design Engineer
I applied online and the hiring manager emailed me to set up a phone interview. It was short, under 30 minutes. Then he invited me for an onsite interview from 9 AM to 2 PM, with a lunch break. The hiring manager gave me an overview of the team and the role. The interview rounds were cool and I enjoyed them, though it wasn't overly tough.
- Could you draw state machines to detect a particular pattern?
