Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Frederick County Public Schools.
Substitute Teacher
I applied online, and then had a phone call, followed by a face-to-face interview and a seminar. I had to get fingerprints done beforehand, and a background check was also required. The staff was really helpful in guiding me through everything. I had already completed an online Stedi substitute diploma before applying, which the interviewer said was a plus.
- Are you planning to look for jobs specifically on Mondays and Fridays?
Teacher
I interviewed for a different teaching role in the same county. It was advertised internally via email to current employees. A panel gave all candidates the same questions to answer within a 15-minute time limit. I felt the interview went well, but someone else got the job. I didn't get any feedback, so I just assume the chosen person was more qualified.
- Describe what you imagine a typical day is like for an outdoor school teacher.
Teacher
The interview process was straightforward. I faced standard questions from a small panel, and then they showed me around the school. Everyone was friendly, and I got an offer the next day.
- How do you address the needs of students with diverse learning styles?
