They started by asking us to record ourselves answering about 5-7 questions about Freddie Mac and why we were interested in working there. Then there was a virtual in-person interview where they asked typical questions and went over our resumes.

The interview process was pretty easy and straightforward but the hiring managers do not tell you if you did not make it to the next round, which sucks. The first round is a video interview where they ask questions such as: Why did you chose your major? What does Freddie Mac do? Why Freddie Mac? The second round is a phone screen where they ask about your past experiences as well as ask behavioral questions. With the phone screen, they also ask what areas of interest you're looking into when applying to this program as well as office location/preference. The last step is Freddie Day. Which is split into two days; a reception and interviews. The reception includes mingling with other candidates as well as analysts and interviewers. This happens on the evening before the interviews. The following day the interviews take place, there is two rounds of 2:1 interviews where they ask your general interview questions. Supposedly you are to hear back with a job offer the following day. I unfortunately did not hear back the following day nor did I hear back at all with a rejection notice, which I find unprofessional and a bit rude, as all the candidates have the right to know if they will be receiving an offer or not. This was my only poor and negative experience with Freddie Mac.

The interview process was smooth, easy, and fun! I was referred by a current employee. I attended a lot of information sessions before applying which helped me learn more about the company and if it was a good fit, and even led to more employee referrals. 1st Round: Video Interview (easy, fast, and purely behavioral). 2nd Round: Phone Screening (Make sure to read the job description and choose 3 areas you're interested in). 3rd: Reception and Freddie Day. This was a fun experience. The night before was just networking with interviewers, current analysts, and other applicants. It was very laid back, but come with probing questions. Freddie Day was fun too. I had two 2:1 interviews with people who were interested in hiring me, so a total of 4 people interviewed me. I got a few offers from different departments at Freddie. I chose one department. Overall, it was a great experience. The recruiter was kind and accommodating. The process was efficient. I am grateful for the experience and for the offers. Glassdoor helped me prepare and practice for the types of questions they ask.
