First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Freddie Mac.
Project Manager
The process was pretty straightforward. Just be yourself and be personable. If you're applying for an entry-level position, they won't expect you to know every single detail about Freddie Mac's business operations. However, that doesn't mean you should go into the interview without any preparation. Make sure you do your research beforehand.
- Can you describe how you would approach solving a process-related problem?
Project Manager
It was a pretty simple interview process. I had one interview with the director and a future peer. It lasted about an hour where they asked me questions, and then I had about 10 minutes to ask them questions. The interviewers were nice and asked good questions. I actually didn't know the answer to one question because we use a different term for it in our business, but they liked that I was honest about not knowing. I ended up getting the job.
- Can you describe SDL?
- What is scrum?
- Can you tell me about a time when you experienced something?
Project Manager
Had 2 phone screens, each 30 mins, then got invited for a half-day interview. This interview was split into 4 sessions, each 30 mins, with the department head, the person I'd report to, and two coworkers. The whole process felt really disconnected and HR follow-up was terrible. Might be okay for entry-level, but this was for a mid-career role.
- Can you tell me about a project where you improved a process?
