Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
Research Associate
There were 2 interview rounds. The first one included a presentation, and the second interview was more of a "fit" interview with the professor / BA leader. The interviews focused on technical accomplishments and academic track record, going into significant detail and also asking about engineering basics.
- Could you tell me about the most challenging course you've taken and what you learned from that experience?
Research Associate
My experience with Fraunhofer - EMFT was that the first round was a meetup. Then there was a technical interview for the second round with a manager, an engineer, HR, and two students. It was pretty easy, I got all the questions right and they gave me an offer. After a lot of bureaucracy, I decided not to proceed. HR was not helpful and made things complicated. I don't recommend them. It was a lot of time for nothing. They also didn't refund the money for the recognition documents they asked for.
- Could you explain the Smith Chart in detail?
Research Associate
The atmosphere was relaxed, focusing on getting to know each other and seeing if we'd be a good fit. Then, it moved into the technical side. I was drawn into technical discussions to see how I'd handle real-world tasks. Ultimately, it was an engaging conversation about problems and solutions, ideas, and innovations. I also felt like the department head was really keen on hiring me. I even got to meet my (potential) future colleagues right away.
- Could you describe your experience as a diploma student?
- Tell me about your diploma thesis.
- Do you have any further questions?
