Behavioral Technical Case

I had a video call with two people, one from HR and a manager. It lasted about an hour. After a quick intro, they asked really structured, technical questions about France Travail's specific tasks, how to handle a caseload of job seekers, dealing with partners, and then some pretty tough hypothetical situations. It was hard for a beginner because some questions needed knowledge you usually get from training or actual job experience.

I had previously applied to Pôle Emploi in 2021. I sent my application via their recruitment site. The next day, I had psychotechnical tests to be able to proceed to the job interview stage. Having passed the psychotechnical tests, I was interviewed 3 days later. Finally, my application was selected, but I refused the position because I had applied for a 7-month contract, and the one they offered me was for 18 months. Anyway, 4 years later (so now in 2025), I am reapplying for the advisor position, and as before, I received these psychotechnical tests but this time, I failed. The tests seem much more complicated than before (unless my IQ has dropped significantly in 4 years). There were previously 4 categories of tests, compared to 6 now. A verbal reasoning test and a digital test have been added, which were absent in 2021. Against all odds, I failed the French test, even though written and spoken French have always been my strong suit. The explanation I found is that even though this French test is timed, you shouldn't rush. And if in doubt, it's better to either not answer the question or look up the answer on the internet. Indeed, for this test and the digital test, the number of questions processed is not taken into account, only the number of errors and correct answers. So be strategic and prefer to answer the minimum number of questions but with 100% accuracy. That's my experience, hope it helps some...

I applied online and was then invited to take psychotechnical tests (spelling, situational judgment, etc.). This was followed by a face-to-face interview with two people from different agencies. It was a back-to-back interview session in the morning. I felt like a number who didn't matter during the interview.

The recruitment process happens in two stages. First, you have to create a profile on the recruitment site to apply for an open position, which is only a fixed-term contract. If your profile matches what they're looking for, you'll take psychometric tests. If your test results are good, your profile will be shared with the recruiting agency. The HR department will then contact you to schedule a phone interview. If this phone interview goes well, you'll have an in-person interview at the recruiting agency.
