Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fossil Group.
Manager
I got a call from the store manager the day after I posted my resume online. Had an initial phone interview and then was invited to interview with the store manager and regional face to face. The manager kept in contact throughout the process prior to meeting. The face-to-face interview was pretty basic, nothing irregular. I felt like a connection was made, and I was even asked about my salary expectations. They told me it wasn't too far out of a possibility. Both interviewers said I'd hear back by the following Wednesday, but no follow-up happened, leaving me in limbo. Fossil managers: if a candidate respects your time to answer emails, return phone calls, and show up for the interview, please show the same respect and let them know if they got the position or not. Unprofessional behavior.
- What are your passions?
Manager
I was unemployed as an architect and industrial designer when the economy tanked and I wanted to use this job to get into corporate as a product designer. My ambition and energy were liked by the store manager, but corporate didn't care. The interview was typical, asking how I problem solve and handle clients. Dress in a 'fossil-ly' fashion, and don't wear a watch that isn't Fossil until after you get the job, as some people are weird about it. Don't tell a story about getting a Fossil watch; it's overdone and no one cares.
- Describe your problem-solving approach.
- How would you manage different client scenarios?
Assistant Manager
I got to the interview 5 minutes before it started and then waited another 25 minutes. The manager and I took a walk to a different spot in the mall to do the interview. The questions were pretty straightforward. She asked about my management experience, how I've handled sales objections, and my five-year goals. I wore business casual, but felt a bit too dressed up because some staff were in very casual attire like sandals.
- Could you tell me why you are interested in working for this company?
- What would you say are your main strengths and weaknesses?
