Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

So, the interview process was pretty straightforward. It started with a recruiter screening call. Then I had a second round with a Product Manager who's on the team. The final round was a bit more intense with four people from different teams, and it also included a general cultural or vibe check interview. I saw some negative reviews before mine, but honestly, my experience was good. The recruiters were super organized and made scheduling easy. Everyone I met was friendly and seemed really driven. I felt like I did really well in all my interviews, connecting my social impact and PM experience to the roles. So, I was kinda surprised I didn't get an offer. The feedback was basically that I didn't lack anything, which is confusing, but I guess it just wasn't the right fit for some reason. My main advice is to research the company well, show you've done that research, and be genuinely enthusiastic about their mission and work.

The recruiter from AngelList didn't do much other than schedule the first meeting with the Product team. The Forward PM will ask you to demo their current product in their 'storefront'. If this first meeting goes well, likely based on how excited you are about the product, you'll meet more Product team members. This first meeting is mostly a marketing tactic for the company to gain visibility and perhaps attract tech talent. Be ready to question their long-term viability, especially regarding their AI strategy, which is a common approach in the valley. The PM team members have backgrounds in some unsuccessful projects at Google X and Uber, so they value hearing about your 'lessons learned' experiences.

The scheduling was bad. I didn't know who I'd meet with, but it ended up being the hiring manager (a cofounder) not the recruiter. They talked way too much about themselves (25 min) and barely about me (5 min). It felt like they were lecturing me instead of having a conversation. Also, the role itself wasn't that appealing due to the return-to-office requirement in SF, which means either super expensive rent or a really long commute.
