Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Forward Networks.
Software Developer
The recruitment process was quite smooth, although the interviewer seemed uncomfortable. The interview mainly involved coding questions and discussions about my project and industry experience. The work itself would be heavily focused on hardware simulation.
- Can you describe a string-based question?
Software Engineer
I was reached out by Sonia on Linkedin and she scheduled my interviews really fast. Sonia and Nate were the recruiters and they were super responsive and patient with all my questions from the initial call all the way to the offer. The first round was an in-person interview, which was a little unusual since most companies start with a phone screen. Sonia helped me feel comfortable before the interview. The interviewer asked me 3 whiteboarding questions about trees, arrays, and counting, and I provided the time complexities. I was told I passed immediately and my onsite interview was scheduled for the following week. The onsite had 4 technical interviews and one with the CEO, David. All interviewers were patient even when I took a while to understand the questions. One interview focused on multithreading, and although I didn't recall the exact syntax, the interviewer provided hints and asked for pseudocode, showing they cared more about my conceptual understanding. The CEO interview gave me a good sense of the company's direction and he answered all my questions. I felt good about the company and the interview experience. Nate extended the offer that evening, and after some negotiation, he secured what I wanted, so I accepted.
- Explain multithreading concepts.
- Discuss graphs.
- Describe how to build an iterator.
Software Engineer
It was a typical tech interview process with really nice and competent people. I got this opportunity through an employee referral. There were three interview rounds. The first round was a one-on-one with a co-founder. The second round consisted of four standard technical interviews. The third and final round was with the CEO.
- Can you explain multi-threading concepts?
- What are some common algorithms and their applications?
- How would you approach optimizing code or systems?
