Technical

We only had one interview round, and it was entirely technical. They didn't ask LeetCode-style questions but focused more on practical Ruby on Rails knowledge and general problem-solving skills. It was a 1-hour session with developers from the team.

It was a pretty long hiring process that took about three weeks. There were two interviews with HR, then one with the manager I would be working with, which also included a case study. Finally, there was a panel interview with four people from different departments. I think for future candidates, it would be better if the HR interviews were more focused on the actual job requirements, to cut down on repeating things and make it flow better.

A recruiter reached out, and I applied via them. The first step was a 30-minute recruiter call, which was pretty standard. Then, I had a one-hour chat with my potential boss about my background and the role. After that, there was a 90-minute take-home technical assessment. The next round was a one-hour interview with HR and someone from another tech team. They asked about my college activities, like clubs, and why I picked my school and major. While they were nice, it felt a bit strange and outdated to discuss things from 10 years ago, which don't seem relevant to my current skills or the job. They also wanted details on every job I've had, including my manager's name and what they'd suggest I could improve on. Essentially, the 'what are your weaknesses' question came up like five times. A couple of days after that interview, the recruiter emailed saying they had positive feedback and would be in touch soon. However, he then ghosted me for a month, eventually rescheduled a call, and then no-showed. I still haven't heard anything, even after emailing to see if we needed to set up another time. The recruiter's unprofessionalism and the odd interview process made me feel like this company might casually withdraw job offers or contact my current employer. It's a bummer because my direct interactions with the team were great, but the recruiters and HR left a negative impression.

The interview started with a recruiter phone screen, who was nice and helpful. Then came a Zoom call with the hiring manager, which included a take-home SQL/Tableau/Data Analysis assessment. The final round was an hour-long Zoom call with the senior director of talent acquisition, which was a horrible experience. This last interview was nothing like the others and focused on irrelevant topics like my college choices, what I did in my free time over 10 years ago, and details about past managers from 5+ years ago. It didn't discuss my qualifications for the role at all, which was unexpected and counterproductive. It was also disrespectful, with one instance of a scoff and an eye roll, making me feel undervalued. I should have listened to other reviews. Avoid this company if you want respect and professionalism.
