Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fort Worth Independent School District.
Teacher
You really have to chase down opportunities. It's not like they call you back. You have to call the admin building yourself, or hit up a hiring fair to even talk to someone, or get a list of schools that are hiring and then contact the principals directly.
- What credentials do you hold?
- Tell me about your approach to classroom management.
- How would you handle this particular situation?
Tutor
My wife teaches at the school and upon hearing of the AVID Tutor position and knowing that I was interested, she gave my number to Mrs. McCoy who is in charge of the AVID program at Benbrook Middle High School. She contacted me and we talked over the phone and set up a time to meet. In person we discussed whether or not I would make a good candidate for the position. Upon receiving the job, she then asked for my availability, and then I began working within a week or two.
- What would be your purpose in working here, if you got the job?
Teacher
The interview process involved a meeting with the principal, vice principal, and director. This took place in the main office conference room on campus a week after the school year ended. The goal of these personal and professional questions was to give the interviewers a solid understanding of my character, interests, and background.
- Could you describe the experience that you believe qualifies you for this role?
