Behavioral Technical Presentation

Started with a call with the acquisition rep where we talked about my resume, the job details, and salary structure (60% base, 40% commission). The next phase had 4 interviews with sales management (regional and local). It was mentioned that sales team turnover is pretty high. The first-year sales target seemed really tough, with expectations for over 40% growth in the second year. It wasn't clear how marketing campaigns would help achieve this. The final stage involved a sales presentation. I had to pick a prospect and present to the same group of interviewers, now including the VP of Sales for the region. They asked questions during my presentation, which are listed below. Unfortunately, I received negative feedback the day after, meaning no offer. The communication throughout the process was a bit disorganized, with delays in getting feedback.

Behavioral Technical

The recruiter was clear about the job expectations and salary upfront. The role was listed as Account Manager but offered as Account Executive. I'm unsure if the pay is different between the two, as AM seems more focused on farming and AE on selling. I'm questioning the standard industry benchmark for AE, as it seems low for someone with over 10 years of experience (30%), and I wonder how long it will take to close that gap. I'm also wondering if the perceived great culture, backed by good Glassdoor ratings, will make up for the potential opportunity cost. This compensation might make it difficult to attract the right talent, especially considering they work with various LOBs and C-level clients. As a salesperson, I naturally want to maximize my earning potential within a given timeframe. I can't determine if the compensation is a deal-breaker or a bargaining chip until I reach the second or third interview and the final round. The first interview focused on assessing my knowledge of the company. They emphasized a 'customer-centered' approach, which seems to be a key term they're looking for, and echoing their website's exact phrasing might earn bonus points. Interestingly, the hiring manager suggested that understanding the target audience's industry knowledge isn't too difficult due to their focus on customer demographics. I agree that effectively mapping audience challenges to Forrester's solutions and being confident in engaging with C-level executives is crucial.

It started with a quick phone call to go over some basic stuff, then a 30-min chat with the hiring manager. After that, there was a face-to-face with the hiring manager, their boss, and someone else from outside the team for a neutral opinion. The last step was a 30-min pitch to the hiring manager, a team member, and the manager's boss. The whole thing took about 3-4 weeks and moved pretty fast, with an offer coming about an hour after the final presentation.
