After an initial video call with the hiring manager, I was given a take-home assignment. I submitted it within a day and received a rejection, which surprised me since I thought I understood the open-ended nature of the task. While I appreciate the practice, I do feel these 'three-hour' challenges can be a waste of time if the company isn't genuinely interested in filling the role or if the candidate has no real shot. This felt like a red flag, as some company reviews suggest similar experiences. I did the work willingly for the practice, though.

I had two interviews. First, a quick chat with a recruiter who said everything was great. Second, a video call with an engineering manager who was late and not very engaged. During this call, I discussed some company problems I have experience with. I was told my solutions were wrong and the company was right, even though their product page had issues I pointed out. I figured my expertise wasn't needed since they thought everything was already perfect.

I first applied online through Glassdoor and then received a call to schedule a phone interview. After completing the phone interview, which lasted about an hour, I was invited for in-person interviews with several people, typically in groups of 2-3. The first in-person visit was great, meeting friendly and knowledgeable folks. Unfortunately, due to scheduling issues and the fact I lived quite far away, I couldn't make the second in-person visit. They were accommodating and allowed me to do another phone call instead, which I really appreciated. This whole process was more challenging than my previous internship interviews, but manageable if you're comfortable speaking with many engineers from different fields. The scheduling was tricky for me because of the distance, so it might be smoother for you if you can arrange interviews more easily.
