Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Formlabs.
Embedded Software Engineer
First, there was a quick recruiter chat about my background and if I'm interested in embedded systems. After that, I had a technical interview where they asked C/C++ coding questions, gave me debugging scenarios to work through, and we talked a bit about system design. The people interviewing me were nice and offered useful tips.
- How would you go about debugging a memory leak in C?
- Can you explain the concept of interrupts in embedded systems?
- Tell me about a project where you had to integrate hardware and software.
Embedded Software Engineer
I had a phone interview that went well. An engineer asked me to talk more about my background and asked me questions based on that. They also told me a lot about the company and what they're looking for. After that, I had an online test on Hackerrank focusing on embedded topics.
- Could you expand on your past experience?
- Tell me more about your experience.
- What are some basic embedded programming questions you can ask?
