First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Forbes.
Editor
I didn’t apply, but a recruiter reached out to me for a phone interview. After that, I was asked to do a video interview with the hiring manager. The first two stages of the process were easy.
- Can you share an instance where you resolved a conflict with someone from a different team?
Editor
I applied in October and heard back for a phone interview in January. A senior editor chatted with me and asked about my past writing and editing work. It was a pretty standard chat. I got the offer two days after.
- Can you talk about your experience with the school newspaper and the selection process for publishing articles?
Social Media Editor
It was a pretty standard interview. Started with a 'tell me about yourself.' Then they explained the role more and we talked about my experience. It seemed like it went okay, but we realized it wasn't the best fit for either of us. I heard back a week later that someone else got the job. I had already found something else by then, but I did appreciate how professional they were about it.
- Would you be OK with working weekends and quickly posting about breaking news?
