First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Foot Locker.
Data Scientist
I applied for a senior position but they offered me a junior role. Right now, I'm working on their hiring project. The recruiter also asked about my doctoral project and publications. The project involves my statistical analysis and programming skills.
- What are your salary expectations, when can you start, and do you need VISA sponsorship?
Data Scientist
Applied online and got contacted by Foot Locker HR a couple days later. After a day or two, I had a chat with a Principal Data Scientist, who mentioned they wanted to move quickly. A day or two after that, I received a Data Science and programming test. The next work day after submitting my answers, they scheduled a technical interview online. They pushed it back by a week, making it two weeks after I submitted the test. Honestly, I'm not sure why I even showed up for the technical interview; the test and the delay were quite annoying. During the technical meeting, there was a lot of background noise from the interviewer's open office, and the interviewers seemed a bit too young and inexperienced. I wasn't impressed and told them the only reason I'd consider working there is the salary, which turned out to be below market. Given the delays and what I heard, it feels like they were more interested in solving a problem than hiring me.
- Some easy data wrangling questions.
- A question about forecasting a time series, which was a bit artificial.
- Questions about analyzing company marketing statements and potential use cases.
Data Scientist
Four rounds interview process. First with HR, second with hiring manager and last technical. Technical is for 1 hr with two sr data scientist in the team. After technical one more 30min behavior round.
- Can you explain the confusion matrix in detail?
