Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Food Lion.
Cashier
Overall a pleasant interview with the Store Manager. They asked questions relevant to the job and also about my work history. It was a quick interview, not too long. It's a good experience for someone looking for their first job.
- Tell me about your previous work experience.
Cashier
My interview process with Food Lion was pretty simple and professional. The hiring manager was nice and asked about my work background, when I can work, and my customer service skills. The vibe was chill, which made it easier to share my answers. I liked that they explained the job well and let me ask questions at the end. Overall, it was a good experience and gave me a good feeling about the company.
- What's your approach to dealing with a customer who's upset or frustrated?
Cashier
I had my interview on a really busy day at the store, which was a bad idea. The manager seemed to have forgotten about our interview initially, needing a few minutes to recall. The office itself was basic, but that was fine. I felt a bit awkward because the interviewer kept looking at me strangely, which made me really nervous. I didn't get the job, and I suspected another candidate might have been chosen over me because I saw someone waiting for an interview after I left, and he wasn't even dressed appropriately.
- Can you share an instance where you successfully managed a situation on your own?
- What led you to choose our store over other available options?
- What's a common shortcoming you possess?
