Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Food City.
Cashier
I was met at the service desk by the hiring manager and then taken to a seating area. They asked how my day was going and then went into questions about my past work experience and current schooling. They were clear about the pay and emphasized how important it is to keep my availability current. They asked how many hours I'd ideally like to work. They also asked if I would be interested in advancing or cross-training later on. After thanking me for my time, they gave me information about my drug test.
- What is your greatest weakness?
- Do you have prior experience in retail?

It was a really easy interview process. The HR person was super friendly and made me feel comfortable. They were flexible with scheduling, and overall it was an easy interview suitable for any age. My advice is to get a good night's sleep, and you'll do great.

I had a quick chat with the store manager and HR where they asked a couple of basic questions. They decided to hire me right away and then I had to do a drug test.
