Food 4 Less Interview Questions
& Process

The interview process was supposed to be quick and easy. I was scheduled for a certain time but got called 20 minutes before and it was pushed back an hour. I got to the store and had to wait even longer because the managers were in a meeting. I interviewed with a manager and took an oral drug test. While taking the test, I filled out some paperwork, which was the first part of the hiring process. The manager asked normal interview questions, mostly 'what would you do' scenarios. After, I was told to wait 2-5 days for the drug and background check to clear. A week went by with no call. I called the store and found out the manager I interviewed with had transferred and hadn't told anyone she hired me. Very unprofessional. My drug test and background check results were clear. They told me to come in a few days later to schedule training, but when I arrived, they said there were no openings in the required training class. They said I'd get a call by the end of the week, but I didn't. I called again, and the manager who was supposed to call wasn't there. Luckily, I got an email from the HR Rep welcoming me and offering help. I asked for an update on my offer, and he said he'd look into it. A manager then called asking if I was still interested, but it would take 3 weeks for the next training class. The manager was annoyed I'd contacted the HR Rep about my job. I also got a request for Union Dues before starting work, which I wasn't going to pay. The Union rep confirmed I didn't have to pay yet and suggested working elsewhere with better contracts and faster hiring. After some brief email exchanges with Food4Less HR, I declined their offer due to the long wait for a grocery store job.

I applied online through snagjob and then on Kroger's website. It took about three weeks to get a call for an interview. The manager was really nice and funny. The interview lasted about 40 minutes total. I first signed some papers, and then the actual questions part was really short, only about 3 minutes. After that, I had to take a drug test with a swab and fill out more paperwork for the manager. They said they'd call me in a few days to let me know if I got the job. Oh, and if you're a minor, you need a work permit from school to start.

I applied to Food4Less back on August 7, 2015. Got a call for an interview about 3 weeks later. The interview itself went super smoothly. I talked to the manager since the general manager was out of town. She asked me a couple of basic questions about how I'd make a difference for the company and some behavioral stuff. The whole thing took about 30 mins. Then I did a swab drug test. Two days after that, I got an email saying I got the job.

It took over a month to hear back after applying. Once I got the call, the next step was a drug test, and it took about a week for the results to come back. After that, I started the job a couple of days later. They are pretty flexible and can work around my school schedule.
