I saw a talk about Fluor at university and sent my CV to them. A few weeks later, I was invited for an interview in Farnborough. It was an assessment centre. The day started with an introduction about the company. Then, we were divided into groups based on our disciplines. Each group was given the same task: to assess a business case. We had 30 minutes to discuss it and then 7 minutes to present our solution. The business case was pretty straightforward. Next, we had another group activity where we had to build a rollercoaster for a marble, aiming to keep it on the track for as long as possible. After that, I had interviews with HR, which were mostly about how great I am and how much I love the company. Then, there was a technical interview with a senior engineer where he asked a lot of questions. The day concluded after that. I didn't get the job.

The assessment centre was a full day with group activities and individual interviews, one with HR and another with the Department Manager. First, we had a group exercise where we were given a problem and 30 minutes to find a solution and prepare a presentation for the hiring managers and HR. Then, in the second exercise, we had 1 hour to build a roller coaster from paper. The interviews were both fine. The technical interview was designed to add a bit more pressure. Overall, the assessment day was really beneficial and fun, no matter the result. All the staff were really friendly and easy to talk to.

I sent in my CV and a cover letter, and after about 3-4 months, I got a call inviting me to an assessment centre. The assessment day had a few parts: a group assessment where we discussed a company problem and then presented on it, another group assessment where we had to build a marble run from paper, a technical interview, a competency-based interview, and then an interview mainly focused on my CV and why I wanted the job. It took much longer than they first said to hear back after that, like several weeks.
