I went through a phone interview and then an in-person interview at FLDSMITH Tucson. The phone screen was alright, but the in-person interview felt like a total waste of my time. They asked a bunch of questions that seemed really generic, like they were just pulled from the internet. During the in-person interview, I got a sense that work-life balance isn't great there. One of the project engineers mentioned having to get up at 3 am for meetings with Indian partners, which kinda gave it away. They also didn't compensate me for my travel to the in-person interview.

Technical Coding

It was a one day process. First, there was a written test, then a tool test in Solidworks, and finally an interview. The written test had basic engineering questions about materials science and engineering drawing. The tool test involved modeling two parts and assembling them in Solidworks. The 1:1 interview had more technical engineering questions about materials and engineering drawings.

First I had an online test. Then, I had an interview with two people, the leader of a group and an engineer. The interview was pretty relaxed, and they only asked me relevant questions about my CV and experience. They also gave me a short overview of the company and the position, and I had a chance to ask questions back.
