Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Flowserve.
Project Manager
It was a two day interview process with a bunch of candidates. The first day, we were all in a conference room waiting area. Then, they'd call us out one by one for interviews. Some had one-on-one, others had panel interviews. Everyone had at least two interviews that morning. After that, they gave us lunch and a tour of the plant. In the afternoon, they showed us company materials and then we all went out for dinner. The next day, we came back and had another round of interviews. This time, it was either one-on-one or a group interview with a panel. Some folks didn't have interviews because their roles didn't need more discussion. They fed us lunch again and then we all went home.
- Were typical HR questions asked during the panel interviews?
- Were simple hydraulic questions asked to test engineering understanding?
Project Manager
First, you'll have a phone chat with HR. If they're good with you, they'll set up a call with your potential direct boss. If the boss likes you, they'll schedule a final panel interview with a group of managers and an HR person. They'll ask questions one by one, and you'll get to ask yours at the end. You should hear back in about a week after that.
- What are the key elements of effective project management?
Project Manager
The recruiter was a bit slow to respond. I had two video calls with Directors which were direct and professional and went great. The final interview with a peer in Netherlands was unexpected and not a good experience. The questions felt negative and one, about my family, was too personal.
- What are the critical success factors for this role and how would you manage current challenges?
- Can you discuss the key challenges and your management strategies for this role?
- What is your family situation?
