I applied for the Distribution Manager role. The process started with a recruitment agency, then I had an interview with the local country manager, followed by a final interview with the APAC sales VP. It was a slow process. They seemed very rigid about the salary and it felt like it would be hard to increase the offer, even if I was the right person for the job.

The interview process was not efficient and reflects poorly on the company. It started with a standard phone interview with a recruiter and then the person I would report to. The real disappointment is the lack of feedback, or even a response from them. I really had good conversations, but after 4 weeks still heard nothing except "we'll get back to you". For all I know I'm still in consideration over a month after the start. Really disappointing and reflects poorly on the company in this very competitive market.

Applied online and heard back about 20 days later from my potential supervisor. They invited me for an in-person interview at the office. It was more of a tour and meet-and-greet with the team, which felt a bit early. The supervisor mentioned the role was new and had been open for a while. About 10 days after that, I had a Skype interview with the person I'd support in the US and HR (who didn't show up). This interview was much more technical and lasted over an hour, focusing on my technical skills. My Skype for Business didn't work, so I had to call them internationally at my own expense, which was stressful. I was told HR would call me afterward, but they never did. I followed up with HR for a couple of months via email, and they kept saying they were still interested, but eventually, I gave up.

Scheduling the interview was a bit messy. They eventually set up an on-site meeting, and I traveled there on short notice, making significant personal arrangements to attend. During the scheduled time, a key interviewer did not appear. I suspected the process was over then, especially since they didn't bother to schedule a call with him. In the end, they hired someone internally. This was quite insulting, a first for me in over a decade in the workforce. Usually, I'm very accommodating, but as an executive, I make a point to respect others' time, particularly when it involves long travel and an internal candidate is being considered.
