Saw the job on LinkedIn and applied. First, I had a 30-minute chat with a recruiter. Then, I did a 1-hour online coding challenge using Codility. After that, there was a virtual online interview with 4 rounds: a 1-hour coding round where I had to screenshare and use my preferred IDE, a 1-hour System Design round, 2.15 hours of pair programming, and finally a 1-hour Behavior questions round.

Behavioral Technical Coding

Applied online and after some days got an email from technical recruiter to schedule a 1 hour phone interview. Round 1 with the recruiter involved questions about my experience and behavioral questions, like long-term and short-term goals. I was also asked some technical questions about regular expressions. After the interview, I received a link to complete an online coding test on Codility, which took an hour. The program was easy and doable for anyone with a CS background. I was then informed I had qualified for the next round, which was a 1-hour Skype interview with a team member. During the Skype interview, I discussed my experience and was given a problem to solve, requiring me to walk through my process and thinking. I was able to solve the problem and then asked some questions I had. Two days later, I was informed I was selected. The recruiter was responsive and made the interview process smooth. Overall, it was a good experience, and the result was surprising but I learned a lot.

I was reached out to by someone in my network. First, there was a recruiter call, followed by an online assessment. I then had a separate call with a manager about a different role. The recruiter, Stephen Landing, was terrible. He spent 45 minutes just boasting about himself and how much all the employees make, suggesting I might be able to make as much money. He then tried to use the online assessment to reject me. However, I had a connection within the company, so it didn't matter, but his attitude definitely made things harder. I guess karma comes around when you're laid off by a poor startup.
