Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fleet Farm.
Sales Associate
Got a quick call for an interview after applying and then I met with the manager who was on duty. He was a really nice guy and the interview itself was pretty easy. Unfortunately the pay offered was just way too low, especially since you can make 50 percent more for a similar role at Menards right across the street. I do like the Fleet brand though and think I would have enjoyed working there.
- Have you ever had to collaborate with someone you found difficult to get along with?
Sales Associate
I applied online and got a call about a week later to set up a one-on-one with a manager, which happened about a week after that. The interview was pretty chill and lasted about 30 minutes. The manager read questions from a paper, like why I wanted to work at Fleet Farm, what my expectations are for an employee, and if being late for work is ever acceptable. They gave me a few pages detailing job duties: helping customers, stocking shelves, keeping my section clean, and learning to use a forklift. Apparently, I didn't get the job because I lacked references outside my family, as this would have been my first job.
- Can you tell me about a time you failed at something and how you handled it?
- Tell me about a failure and how you dealt with it.
Sales Associate
The interview was super chill and easy. They didn't ask anything too tough. The manager was really nice and made me feel comfortable. We started with some basic questions about my past jobs, and then they asked how I've handled (or would handle) various situations at work. These situations involved things like boosting sales, dealing with shoplifters, managing difficult coworkers, and handling angry customers.
- How can we increase company revenue?
- What actions would you take if you witnessed shoplifting?
- Could you tell me about your previous work experiences?
