First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fivetran.
Program Manager
The interview process was really drawn out, with 5 interviews spread over 3 months. Even after all that time, they ended up selecting another candidate. Then, when that person left after a couple of months, they scheduled another round of interviews, but the same outcome occurred again. It's not about not getting the job, that's their choice, but the issue is being strung along through a long and draining process. They make it seem like everything is progressing well, and just as you're anticipating an offer, they change their minds. This really makes you question the company's culture.
- Can you detail your experience in leading various teams as part of a program?
- Walk me through your experience with program management involving multiple teams.
Program Manager
I applied online and was contacted for an initial interview with a recruiter. Then, I interviewed with the team lead, and was invited to a virtual onsite which lasted about 2 hours and included interviews with 4 people. The virtual onsite was of average difficulty, mostly asking about my past work experience, how I work, and what tools I use. My only feedback is that I wished I had more time for questions, and one interviewer seemed rushed and uninterested, saying things like "sick" or "cool" after I answered. Since we only had 30 minutes each, it was hard to answer all her questions. The others seemed genuinely interested and it felt like a conversation. The team was very communicative and treated me like a person, unlike other experiences where you feel like just another resume. Even though I didn't get an offer, I have great things to say about the recruiting experience and how this company operates.
- Can you describe a time you and your manager had a disagreement and how you resolved it?
- Tell me about a project that didn't go as planned or failed.
- Describe instances where your performance was tied to specific metrics.
Program Manager
Started with a 30 min recruiter call where they gave details about products, the position, and the interview process. The recruiter was super knowledgeable about the role and engineering practices, which was impressive and they shared some good prep materials. Then there was a 45 min Hiring Manager interview focusing on my experience and past programs. There were a couple of focused rounds and a VP interaction. Finally, a 30 min HR round. The Hiring Manager interaction was really great.
- Can you discuss your experience with Agile management?
- What are your thoughts on OKRs?
- Tell me about different cross-functional projects you've worked on.
