Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fivetran.
Account Executive
It was a good interview process overall. The dbt Labs merger is an interesting prospect, but unfortunately the team I talked to had no info on merger plans, so I turned down the offer.

- What's your strategy for maintaining a 4X pipeline coverage?
Account Executive
I interviewed for an AE position at Fivetran in Dublin. Applied on Linkedin, First call with the recruiter, super kind, she explained how the job/team was and the salary. Second call with the Hiring Manager. In the very first moment of the call, the manager mentioned she would pretend to be a very rude manager to test my ''work under pressure'' skills - she guaranteed she was not like that with her team. From that moment, she interrupted me after every single sentence I'd speak, made ''bad'' face expressions and did not behave kindly. That was fine. I personally do not think this is the best way to approach a candidate in a job interview but I respect - she was a senior manager so I am sure that worked with other individuals previously. Even if I respectfully disagree with her attitude, there were 2 things that really disappointed me. 1. She said clearly she did not like the solution I sell in my current job (using bad words to refer to our product). 2. She had my CV in front of her - she read out loud all the languages I speak and when she read ''Portuguese'' (I am Brazilian) - she mentioned '' well, you put in your CV that you speak Portuguese... but you know that in Brazil you don't speak 'real Portuguese'... but anyway I don't want to offend you''. Ps: she is not a Portuguese speaker. After the interview, I had already taken my decision that I would not accept the offer. 8 days after that interview I sent an e-mail to the recruiter to ask for feedback and she mentioned the feedback was pretty positive but they had put the position on hold. It seems to be a good company to work, also the team hits their targets, but unfortunately my personal experience was not the best.
- How would you approach reaching out to a CTO?
- What's your strategy for prioritizing your accounts?
- If you started today with a 100k target, how would you achieve it?
Account Executive
Started with a recruiter phone screen done by an external recruiter. Then, a video call with the hiring manager. After that, there was a 2-hour interview with two people currently in the role, focusing on behavioral questions and culture fit. This was followed by a presentation about Fivetran based on a specific situation, and then an interview with the director.
- Do you have specific deal examples and how have you handled more technical sales?
- Can you give specific deal examples and how you've handled more technical sales?
