So FIS Global's hiring process kicks off with a quick chat with a recruiter, about 15-20 minutes, just to see if you're a basic fit and sort out the logistics. After that, there's one interview for the financial analyst role, lasting 30 minutes, where they'll probe your technical basics and how you work using questions about your past experiences and a look at your resume. The last two interviews, also 30 minutes each, are with your potential peers. These chats are mainly about seeing if you'd fit the team culture, can you work well with others, and what your potential is for the long run. Each of these last two interviewers might focus a bit differently on the role. Everything is pretty conversational and behavioral, they're really looking for examples using the STAR method about working together, sorting out issues, and being flexible, not so much about doing complex financial problems on the spot.

I applied online and heard back from a recruiter a week later. She said I didn't get the original job because they promoted internally, but she wanted me to apply for a similar role. I did, and she called again for an initial phone screen, mentioning she'd forward her notes to the hiring manager. A few days later, the hiring manager wanted to schedule a 45-minute phone interview. After that, the recruiter contacted me to set up an in-person interview for Friday. By the following Monday, the recruiter called with an offer. The whole thing took about 2 weeks from application to acceptance.

The analysts were super professional, which was surprising for a tech company. They asked me how my background would help them. Most of them were previous auditors. It wasn't for me as they wanted me to be a glorified accountant that pushes out reports. The role entailed doing Journal Entries, Reporting, "bean counter" stuff. Financial analyst means different things to different people but here it is more accounting heavy than traditional finance which involves higher level of math, analysis, and "consultant" type knowledge. I didn't hear back for weeks, almost a month, and then they wanted to bring me back in for another interview. I already had a job at that point.
