There were 4 rounds of interviews. The first round was a take-home assessment with 4 questions. The second round was a 45-60 minute video interview focusing on technical SQL questions. The third round was a 1.5-hour in-person interview with a panel of 6 people. The fourth round, the purpose of which the interviewer admitted to not knowing, involved random questions about relocation and a discussion of the work planned for the next 6 months, seemingly documentation-focused.

The interview process began with a recruiter phone screening, where I was asked about my motivation for joining FINRA and my availability for an interview. This was followed by a one-hour conversation with the project hiring manager. The manager demonstrated strong professional domain knowledge and explained the job responsibilities. I was given an opportunity to ask questions about the role. The interactions suggested a positive work environment due to the professionalism and pleasant demeanor of the staff I spoke with.

Technical

This was for a contract role. The hiring process took a really long time. They absolutely needed to see samples of my previous written work. I had to sign an NDA, which is standard practice and totally fine. Because I respect my agreements, I didn't have the old documentation readily available and had to try and create some sample materials. Ultimately, I didn't get the job.
