Behavioral

I applied and got an interview with HR about a week later. It was a 45-minute chat with mostly behavioral questions about team management, handling difficult projects, conflict resolution, and my expectations. The interview felt well-structured and friendly.

Behavioral Technical Coding

First, I had a chat with the HR partner about my background, what motivates me, my strengths, and DEI. Then came a coding challenge that I had 7 days to complete. It was pretty straightforward but also very open-ended, I spent about 12 hours on it. When I submitted, I found out I had to record a walkthrough, which wasn't mentioned before, so that took extra time. The last part was the technical interview, which was the toughest. The invite said 1 hour: 30 mins for tech questions and 30 mins for the coding challenge walkthrough. It was with the team lead and another senior engineer, though the latter seemed to just observe. The team lead asked broad questions about my past work. I felt a bit disorganized answering because I wasn't sure what they were looking for, and the recruiter wasn't very responsive, not giving much feedback or asking for more details. Later, they asked more specific questions, most of which I got right. Then it was my turn to ask questions. The recruiter ended the interview 10 minutes early and didn't even bring up the homework, which was a bummer. Overall, the recruiter wasn't very engaging. I was rejected, with the feedback being: 'we would have liked you to provide more technical details about your past experiences this could be improved by providing more context and structure in your answers'. I asked if we could reconnect but didn't get another chance. Looking back, I'm glad I didn't end up working with FINN.

Behavioral

I applied to the Women in Tech Frontend development path. A few days later, I got an email saying I was a better fit for the Women in Tech Internship and they offered to interview me for that instead. I took the offer and had a 30-minute introductory interview. The interviewer seemed unaware that my application had been switched to the internship and made it seem like my application was incomplete and I wasn't serious. She also didn't seem to listen to my answers and was more focused on her appearance than the interview itself. I was really disappointed that a fast-growing company like FINN handles interviews this way, even for an internship.
