Behavioral Technical

I had a chat with the recruiter first. Then I got a technical challenge to complete within 7 days. After that, there was a technical interview. I'm not sure what's next because my process ended there, but the recruiter mentioned a cultural match interview should happen after the technical one.

I applied online and the whole thing took about 7 weeks from late August to mid-October. There were 5 interview rounds. First, a technical screening with a C level exec. Then, a take-home assignment that should take about 5-10 hours, though it's up to you how much effort you put in (like getting 100% unit test coverage), but it doesn't guarantee anything, not even a Senior Backend role. After that, I had a tech interview with a VP of Engineering, followed by an interview with another C level exec. The last interview was with a Tech Lead, but it was for a different position.

Behavioral Coding Presentation

I applied online on FINN's website. I was contacted quickly and had a chat with the VP of engineering, who was super friendly. After that, I got a take-home coding challenge with a week to finish it. The challenge was fitting for the role. I didn't really like that I had to send a video explaining my code, and the tool they used was clunky. Everything was going well until I got rejected. The feedback wasn't great - it said my code wasn't runnable (it was), that instructions were missing (they weren't), and disagreed with some of my implementation choices. I responded to each point with explanations, but they never replied. This lack of communication really soured my view of the company, even though it seemed like a good place. I would have preferred a quick call to discuss the implementation instead of the video. Not hearing back after putting in the effort is a red flag.
