Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Finisar.
Test Engineer
Went through an online interview via Seek. They asked me a bunch of technical questions about how to build quality software. This included building HAL and drivers. I was also tested on LV functions and GOOP. It involved understanding mechanical fixtures and writing code for LabVIEW Rio and FPGA (LV Real Time).
- Do you know OOPS in LabVIEW?
Test Development Engineer
The interview process involved three rounds. The first round was a written test with three sections covering electronics, mechanical, and computer science fundamentals. The second and third rounds were both personal interviews, both technical in nature. The questions focused on electronics and communication basics, as well as data structures and algorithms programming questions based on these topics.
- Can you design an amplifier using an OpAmp?
- How would you design clipper and clamper circuits?
- Regarding Nyquist data rate and band-limited channels, can you explain?
IC Test Engineer
The interview involved asking detailed questions about diodes and how they are tested. I was shown circuit diagrams and asked about current and voltage ratings. They also inquired about my practical knowledge of IC testing. The onsite interview had three people asking me separate questions for about an hour. Understanding the basics of electronics components is crucial for this interview.
- How important is the real time constant for testing?
