First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Filevine.
Executive Assistant
I had a good first chat with the hiring manager and then went through several rounds quickly. I talked to the CMO's current EA and the Chief of Staff. It was all fast-paced and each meeting went well. For the final interview with the CMO, I had to do a homework assignment that I thought was relevant and well-suited for the job. After that, communication became very scarce. I tried to get the hiring manager's email to send a thank-you note but got no reply. I followed up again with no success. I finally texted them to get the email and they also gave me an updated timeline that was already delayed from what they initially said. I followed up a few more times without any response, and it felt like I was being ghosted. My final attempt to reach out was met with a text saying they chose someone else. Considering the number of rounds and the time I put in, the lack of communication and how they told me the decision was disappointing and unprofessional.

Software Engineering Manager
The interview process was pretty straightforward. First, I had a meeting with the VP of Engineering. Then, about a week later, I interviewed with the engineering team. They wanted to know if I was open to doing some development work myself and also how I would lead the team. It was mentioned that the person previously in this position had some difficulties, which I took into account when answering.
- What key metrics indicate a productive and valuable team member?
- How willing are you to contribute as an individual developer?
- How do you approach leading a team?
Software Engineer
I applied because I saw an opening and knew someone here. There were a couple of openings and I applied to what I was qualified for. You meet with the hiring manager and then go on to meet two manager-level individuals. They ask you a series of questions about what you've worked on and also ask you to do a technical challenge for half the interview. I answered the questions well considering the role was for C# and it was asked to be done in JavaScript. They had about 8 challenges, we only got through about 2 before time was up. I solved both 20/20 and was still rejected which was a bit surprising. I asked for feedback and was basically ignored which was not great.
- Can you tell me about a project you are proud of?
- Describe a project you've worked on.
- What technical challenges did you encounter in past projects?
Sales
The interview process was pretty disorganized from the start, I was the one always reaching out to move things forward. It began with a recruiter call to confirm willingness to work in-office M-F, 8-5p. Then, a call with a Sales Executive was scheduled, but the date and time were changed the day before, pushing it out a week. This made me feel like my time wasn't valued. After a Zoom call, I had to follow up again to get an update. The next step was an in-person interview at Filevine, which involved a typical interview and a product presentation. I had to reach out once more to find out the status, and then received an automated email saying they were moving forward with other candidates. Going through 3-4 separate interview steps just to get an automated rejection felt like I was just a number.
- What makes you the best candidate for this role?
