Software Engineer
The recruiter I talked to was super nice and seemed really enthusiastic about working for FIGS. It sounds like a great place to work, though I think their interview process could be better. The recruiter told me the process involved a take-home assignment which served as the tech screen, followed by an onsite panel interview. The take-home coding assignment, which they said would only take 3-6 hours, actually required several features that pushed it towards the longer end of the estimate. Also, the instructions in the email and the readme were contradictory. After I submitted it, I was informed the team went with another candidate, and I didn't get any feedback after two days. This didn't seem right since it's supposed to be the tech screen, so why only move forward with one engineer at a time? Now it makes sense why the role has been open for over a month.
- Could you create a React component that fetches images from an API?
- How would you implement both desktop and mobile layouts for this component?
- Please add a search functionality to the component.
Software Engineer
FIGS' hiring process was super fast, like from the first interview to the offer was only 2 weeks! It was smooth sailing all the way. There were 4 interviews total plus an initial recruiter chat. They kept me in the loop and always got back to me quickly. I felt like they really cared about me as a candidate, and the whole thing felt professional and respectful. If you like things to move quickly and be clear, you should totally apply to FIGS.
- Can you explain React and its core concepts?
- What are React hooks and how do you use them?
- How do you fetch data from an API in React?
Software Engineer
The toxicity of this place is so off the charts it was visible from space. Wildly inexperienced interviewers, rude recruiters, very obviously terrible tech stack. There didn't seem to be a single talented individual in sight during the interview process, which was extremely excessive and fawning for no good reason.
- Were they trying to figure out who would be willing to work at this toxic company?
