First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Figma.
Engineering Manager
The interview process was really well-organized and straight to the point. Each part of the process helped me get to know the company, the people, and my potential team better, and made me more excited about the role at Figma. The recruiting team was super responsive and always kept me updated on any changes to the schedule. Honestly, it was one of the best interview experiences I've had. I especially enjoyed the three technical interviews, which seemed very relevant to the actual work. They prepared me well and naturally introduced me to the Figma product. Preparing for the interviews, especially the ones that touched on business, product, and people management aspects, actually helped me clarify my own thoughts and philosophies. That's a sign of a great process, regardless of the outcome.

Software Engineering Manager
The process spanned a few weeks. It started with an initial chat with a hiring manager, followed by two days of interviews spaced a week apart. The interview structure was as expected and reasonable. However, the interviewers seemed inexperienced and were mostly reading from questions instead of engaging in a two-way conversation. Be ready for standard questions. One interviewer appeared angry at the start, and another was distracted and rushed. Although the interview design was good, the quality of the interviewers was disappointing. The technical parts were fine, but the architecture presentation is with an engineer, not an EM, so be ready to shift between deep technical details and high-level overviews. It might be worth asking how this part is evaluated beforehand. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but it didn't feel like they had everything together. It's a shame they put people in sessions who seem unwilling to participate. It seems like a fun place, but I wouldn't want most of these people supporting my career as an IC.
- I cannot share the specific questions, but they were all standard and reasonable.
Engineering Manager
The interview process started with a first round that had two interviews, but one interviewer was a no-show. The interviewers who did show up were nice. Then there were 4 interviews in the second round. Some interviewers seemed inexperienced or disrespectful, with one even yawning during a behavioral interview. However, the last interviewer was very nice. Overall, while half the interviewers were pleasant, the other half left a negative impression about interviewing at Figma, making it one of the tougher interview experiences in my 13-year career.
- What are some standard interview questions you might expect?
- Have you signed an NDA? These questions are pretty standard and similar to what other companies ask.
