Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at fifty-five.
Data Consultant
First contact with HR: A phone call to present the job and check motivation, background, and fit for the role. The HR person clearly explained how the firm works, its culture, and values. Following this, there were three 30-minute interviews back-to-back. The discussions were professional and well-conducted. However, there was no feedback for over three weeks, even after following up with HR, which gives an impression of a lack of follow-up in the process.
- Tell me about a time you faced a difficult situation.
Analytics Consultant
Basic HR screening: first an intro from the HR side, then the candidate presents their academic background and professional experience. Some in-depth questions about the missions (no technical questions at this stage). Regrettable lack of professionalism from HR: through feedback I had to ask for myself after almost two weeks of ghosting following this stage, I was notably criticized for not being clear on certain points during my presentation, even though the person in front of me repeatedly assured me my points were very clear. Yet another company that seems to run processes when they don't need to hire, avoid.

Data Consultant
There were 3 rounds of interviews. The first round was with an HR Manager and a Talent Acquisition Specialist, focusing on fit, motivation, understanding of the role, and knowledge of the company. The second round involved two interviews with data consultants and a data scientist, covering fit, motivation, and technical questions. The third round consisted of three interviews with my future manager, the partner, and the head of Data Science, assessing fit, motivation, and technical knowledge.
