First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fifth Third.
Quantitative Analyst
Interviewed with a manager and an analyst. They asked me about SAS, SQL, and some statistics concepts like Logistics models and hypothesis testing. There were also some quantitative probability problems. It wasn't too tough.
- Can you explain SQL joins and how to use the group by clause?
Quantitative Analyst
First, I had a hiring manager call where we went over my resume and they asked me to tell them about myself. Then, I had an in-person interview that was split into two 45-minute sessions. The first was more of a conversation with behavioral questions, and the second was technical where I had to rate my skills and talk about projects I've done. They didn't ask any SAS or SQL coding questions.
- Tell me about your resume
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Tell me about a time when...
Quantitative Analyst
We started with a few phone interviews with the program manager. Then, there was a full day of interviews where I met with several managers for one-on-one chats. After that, I had to give a 10-minute presentation about my past modeling work to a group of experts. The day finished with lunch with some senior employees. The interviews weren't too tough; it was mostly about getting to know me. They really seem to weigh the presentation heavily, focusing on how well you can summarize your research and communicate it. Lunch was another opportunity for them to gauge my communication skills and see if I'd be a good fit personality-wise.
- What are the limitations of your model?
- What are your career aspirations at this bank?
