Mechanical Field Engineer
First up, they want to chat with you about yourself and your experience so they can get a good sense of who you are. After that, it usually takes a week or two (three in my case, but holidays were a factor) to get a second interview with one of the managers.
- How does safety influence your decisions on a job site?
Technical Field Advisor
Applied on their website and HR got in touch. Then I had an interview with the hiring manager where I talked about my past experience. They made an offer, but when I tried to negotiate salary a bit, they ghosted me. Later, they rescinded the offer saying they needed a green card for further processing.
- Can you share your prior experience related to turbines?
Field Engineer
We will start with a recruiter call. Then there will be a group setting where we will focus on behavior questions. You will talk about your projects and work experience. Expect questions about what you did outside of class, such as handling a negotiation with someone and solving daily life tasks. Finally, we will have an onsite interview.
- How would you handle a situation with an angry customer?
Mechanical Commissioning Engineer
It was a long interview session. Started with an intro by the hiring resource manager, which included personal questions. Then, the GE Gas Power hiring manager asked technical questions mostly about powerplant systems like gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSG, and control systems. After that, there was an on-the-spot color blind test to check eyesight.
- Tell me about Gas Turbines and Combined Cycles.
- Can you discuss powerplant systems, including gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSG, and control systems?
